The sun has arrived, the worms are feeling the love, and so are we. When every time you have a peek in the worm farm and catch the worms in the act you know you’re on the right path, and it serves as a little reminder that despite the chaos the worms will always be with us quietly building the new earth.

Isle of Worms
|
|
Worm farming in the UK is being taken to new heights thanks to Simon and Rosa Hill of The Worm Farm (Isle of Wight) as they bring their brand new Continuous Flow Through (CFT) vermicomposting system to market. As you know we love to travel with the good word and it was an honor to be invited to the Isle of Wight to speak at The Garlic Farm for the product launch. Regular readers will know we opertate our own UK-built, Detroit-designed CFT at Worm HQ, but Simon and Rosa introduce the first 100% locally-produced system.

The concept and design of the CFT actually originated in the UK in the 1980s, pioneered by the late Dr Clive Edwards who, after emigrating to the USA, also took the driving force with him where the CFT has gained widespread adoption, embraced across industries from farming to hospitality. Fortunately for us here in the UK we now have a product to drive this force on home soil, and we are loving the new design which is an enclosed pest proof system and has a very smart harvesting mechanism thanks to Simon's engineering background. Compost Masters
|
|
The Compost Mastery has begun! We’ve had a full house at Worm HQ these past weeks as we kicked off (or wriggled off to be more accurate) our 12 week Compost Masters course with Pulp Friction members, gratefully funded by The National Lottery Awards for All Fund. Not only have members been getting their hands dirty learning the tricks of the trade, they have demonstrated a natural nurturing of our little wrigglers - we know they are in safe hands! As part of the project we are brewing worm poo tea to feed the community garden at FarmEco, releasing that much needed beneficial biology into the soil to feed the plants naturally. It brings us immense pleasure to have the opportunity to host and share the worm love, and here’s to many more brighter days at HQ with team Pulp Friction.

Super Worms
|

We want to give a huge shout out and thank you to Genieve Jordan for spreading the worm love in her community, and for sharing some pictures with us for New Worm Order News! To know that we have people spreading the good word fills us with hope for the future. Rea Church in Birmingham are now the proud guardians of a Wheelie Bin Worm Farm, and Genieve started off the session with a reading of Super Worm, the entertaining illustrated story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, before the unveiling the new worm farm.

Click & Compost

We get particularly excited when customers use our Click and Collect service as we not only get to show off our worms, we also have the opportunity to connect and meet with others of like mind. Thank you Martin, Simon and Kerry for joining the new worm order, you’re all members for life now!

Worm Farmers Alliance

The Urban Worm enjoyed an afternoon out at Feel Good Gardens in Mansfield for another amazing Earth Day - it's always a pleasure to reconnect and connect with lovers of nature in the community! And what a special treat that one of our 1000 Worm Farmers was there to tell us her worms are thriving - great work Sue (sorry we didn’t get a photo!)

I bought a 10 litre wormery from you about a week ago. I just wanted to let you know that the worms seem to have settled into their new home and seem happy and healthy - well, they haven't complained yet :)

The are incredibly cute and are the perfect house guests.
