February 2025 edition

Dear Friends

Welcome friends to February’s edition of New Worm Order News, thank you as ever for staying with us as we look forward to Spring

Worm colleagues - you have made it through the toughest month of the year, it’s all love and light from here on! We have to admit working in the workshop in January has been super tough, and certainly challenges our resilience. We keep reminding ourselves it will pass, we'll welcome the spring and the accompanying chorus of farmyard animals; then we can feel we're living the dream again.

Worm Wide Web

The Urban Worm CIC website has been undergoing a long overdue face lift and if we say so ourselves, we think it looks pretty good. Not only does it look the business, but we now have product review capability and visible reviews from Google too. Thank you to everyone who has kindly taken the time to write a review for us - much, much appreciated. As you may know we no longer engage in social media so your reviews carry a lot of weight for us (FYI no regrets there!). If you love the worms and would like to give The Urban Worm CIC a review it would be appreciated enormously, plus you get to feature on the website now!
Our shiny new website >>>
We strongly believe social media is the parasite of our times, draining our time, relationships and souls. We are grateful for the profile and awareness social media offered when we started out on the worm journey but we began to recognise its ills, and we could not continue to feed the monster machine. And as one of the greatest (and wisest) musicians of all time Prince warned us in 1999 -
“Don't be fooled by the internet. It's cool to get on the computer, but don't let the computer get on you. It's cool to use the computer. Don't let the computer use you. Y'all saw The Matrix. There's a war going on. The battlefield's in the mind and the prize is the soul. So, just be careful.”

Worms Anyone?

The new year brings new plans, and the workshop is also having a little facelift and a clear out. We have six mini worm farms (with worms) going FREE to a loving home who can come and collect from our workshop in Screveton, Nottinghamshire. If you would like one, or have room to accommodate them all drop us a line, all we ask is that you show them love and tenderness, and your kitchen scraps.

Meet The Team

We couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful team, we are only small, but we have a whole lot of love.

This month we want to officially introduce fellow Director Martin Costello, who has been working behind the scenes on a part time basis for the worms for 6 years now. Martin joined us officially in 2024 as a fully-fledged member of the New Worm Order, and he is definitely the most sensible member of the team. With an exceptional gift for spreadsheets, spelling and tech stuff (for which the rest of us have zero clue) as well as being an excellent driver we are grateful to have Martin around. He’s also a pretty good worm farmer too. In Martin's previous life he has been a photographic printer, principal of an alternative school, a postman and a poet. Martin's favourite thing about the worms is the sweet aroma of their poo (aka vermicompost).
That’s all friends, thank you as always for reading New Worm Order News. We will be back next month with more wormiful news.

💗 Worms & Peace
